- The Lord of the Rings world is an intricately described affair all created by one single, solitary person. There is more 'history' in the Lord of the Rings universe than there ever will be in the Star Wars universe because Lord of the Rings was written with passion and attention to detail. Nothing in the entire legendarium was without explanation or intricate detailing, whereas Star Wars was designed to be sold.
In effect, the question is the difference between an art masterpiece which has been made with dedication over countless years and some tacky mass produced tat designed to look artistic but really printed off by the cartload in some factory by people who couldn't care less and only see the money in it.
Star Wars is good, but it doesn't compare to Lord of the Rings. Star Wars was intended to be modernized story about medieval knights in their shining armour, they were intended to have a meaning behind it, like every good story has. It wasn't intended to be a fantasy realm full of history and detail. As how George Lucas himself planned it. Other people have written more detail to Star Wars. There are countless books deepening the Star Wars universe and as you mentioned LotR having a more deeper history, well it's painfully obvious an universe as wide as the Star Wars universe is full of star systems and cultures and species that all have their own history, that it doesn't come through in the movies but that's why we have those deepening books. And I also credit Star Wars for featuring various themes in the series, like philosophy and politics. I learned much from Star Wars as a kid. You say that LotR is the work of countless years, true, but Star Wars, some tacky mass production? No, definitely no. Star Wars is a MILESTONE in the history of movies, thanks to Star Wars we have all those fancy special effects we enjoy off today, special effects that weren't created in a day or two. Also the series has existed for decades and is constantly expanding it's story and finding new fans, thus educating kids with important values. Yes, Star Wars is one of the world's biggest selling franchises, but I guess that wasn't on George's mind when he decided to take the risk of doing the first film. It was a big gambit, since they had to do so many things that weren't done never before! Yes, you are right, Star Wars is nothing compared to LotR, but it works also the other way around: LotR is nothing compared to Star Wars. They can't be compared.

| Lol Eric his character's name is actually Mick... I know, I've called him Niisan nearly every time I've referred to him lol, but that's just because my character's so magical he can do those things lol... it's certainly not my complete RP fail haha And Lol, Apollonius is not evil! The Admins have to agree beforehand if somebody wants to kill off their character lol. Apo's writer knew, but that doesn't mean Apo himself necessarily knew lol That's my story and I'm sticking to it | |

| Lol... just say
"Eric strolled into the kitchen..."
Lol
If you want to make it look like an accidental discovery "Eric's sleeve had brushed the picture of the pear near Das Hufflepuffsreich and was overcome with curiosity when a passage way revealed itself to him" or something like that lol
