Courtyard beneath the clocktower

I sit on a bench, watching a butterfly flit to and fro, contemplating about Hogwarts, and how everything was better here, even the sunshine seemed brighter. Maybe it was the magic that did it, but at that moment I was just watching the butterfly

'Oh hello, you're Hufflepuff, aren't you?' Asked Lavinia, pleased that she could finally tell the differences in the uniforms.

"Yes, yes I am, and you're a Gryffindor" I say, "I'm Rob, I don't think we've met"

'No, I don't think we have' I said, smiling. 'Yes, I am Gryffindor. Do you find it terribly difficult to tell the houses apart? Until I realised the ties were different, I just used to guess and hope I'd got it right'

I laughed at myself, a little self-conscious of how stupid I was making myself sound. 'You're a third year, aren't you? I'm not so bad at guessing ages' I laughed, 'I'm a first year.'

'It's nice to meet you,' said I, holding out my hand, 'Lavinia Featherstonehaugh'.

Amy walked out of the castle, book in hand and climbed the tree. She moved along a branch until she was just within touching distance of the trunk, then dangled her feet over the edge. She opened her book, beginning to read, and enjoying the light breeze.

I walk into the courtyard, thinking of what she's just witnessed. The images that come to her mind just before leaving Apollo and Elad were still fresh in her mind. She walked to the edge of the courtyard and stared through an arch out over the view. Yes, she smiled to herself, everything was suddenly much brighter.

Amy looked down as the girl passed.
The other aimee, im not sure yet what to think of her.
She sighed and returned to flicking through her pages.

I look around, not seeing anyboday and take my wand out, I look down at it. Maybe... They weren't such a bad idea. Should she go back and practise? She twirled her wand for a few seconds then stopped and looked down the mountain again, thinking of a spell of some sort that would provide the same sort of reaction.

I watched her, curiously, hidden in my tree. She didnt look the same as she had before, she looked distant, distracted. She had always seemed so calm, yet now she merely looked calaculating, taking in every detail of her surroundings. I shivered, this I did not like. I pulled my legs into me, ensuring they were out of view. I did not want to alert her to my presence.

She closed her eyes, holding her wand down by her side and tilted her head slightly, enjoying the soft wind in her hair and on her face. Inside she laughed. A small smile curled her lips upwards. Opening her eyes again she saw a point in the distance, she look a bit closer. Perfect she thought. Next hogsmeade visit she knew what she was going to do.

I saw her smile and shivered. This girl I did not trust. I sat there in the tree, knees drawn up to my chin, unmoving. I did not want to stay, yet I could not escape. If I moved I feared her reaction, she would, undoubtedly, not take kindly to knowing she was being watched. I felt the brezze whip my hair off my face and I hugged the book to my chest. She would leave soon and I could forget this.

I tilt my head and look to the forest.
'Well... Things are certainly going to get more interesting around here' A true smile clouds my face, making it strangley beautiful yet terrifying at the same time. I turn slowly and flick one last look over to the point I'd been looking at a few moments before and left, heading towards the one place she could escape the irksome controlled atsmosphere of the castle.

I shuddered as she left, waiting for her to be all but gone before I risked lowering my feet. The smile had disturbed me, I wanted nothing more to do with the girl. I re-opened my book, wondering if the words would distract me from it. I wanted to escape, now more than ever, I sighed. I couldn't change, not here, no matter how much I wanted to. I fingered the clip, still fastened in my hair from the ball. I could become the scarab beetle, no one would know. I let my hand drop. No, I couldn't.

I walked out and climbed up the tree, swinging my legs as I sat on the branch. Being out here relaxed me and the peace and quiet left plenty of time to think. I'd lost two of my friends in the past few days and now I had no idea who to trust about anything.

I swung my feet as I sat on the branch, enjoying the wind in my hair. I was smiling as I watched people walk around. Groups of first years were giggling as they walked under the tree and a couple of seventh years were working in a corner.

I walk into the courtyard, looking straight ahead of me, not looking at everyone as I pass and head to a corner. A 2nd year Gryffindor runs of front of me and I push them to the floor. 'Watch where you're going or next time I'll curse you.' I say stepping around them and carrying on to my corner. I sit down and pull out a diary, writing in it and casting glances towards a spot in the mountainside to the side of hogsmeade.

I watched Aimee, it seemed she wasn't as nice as first impressions had portrayed. I felt sorry for the 2nd year who ended up on the floor, but they ran off before I could decide to help. I watched her from the tree, writing in her diary. That was probably full of evil things, things I didn't really wish to know.

As I sit writing, I look again towards that spot. i close my diary and walk to the side. i feel a tear come to my eye and I try and blink it back. It escapes anyway. I wipe it away and fight any more back. I regain my composure and look around. I don't see any one of importance, somehow failing to spot Amy and sigh. I open the book up and leaning against the wall, begin to finish what I was writing.

I watched her, thinking how distracted she must be to not have seen me. I was almost in plain sight. She seemed to be wiping a tear from her eye but I doubted that was the case. I was beginning to feel curious about the diary, maybe it would have some of the answers I wanted? I shrugged the thought off. I'd never get to read it so there was no reason to bother myself with it.

I set the diary to one side after I'd finished and look over the view.

Again my eyes travel back to that one spot.

I sigh and stand up. I turn around and leave. There was no use staying here.

(I got to go to work. You decide if I took the diary or not.)

I jumped down and picked up the diary before anyone else could, turning it over in my hands. The cover was smooth, she'd looked after this well. I toyed with the idea of reading it. I may have my suspicions about her but how would I feel if someone read my diary?

I sighed and climbed back up the tree and sat on my branch. Reading would come later, if I read it at all.

I walk out, my wand gripped in my hand and I wait to see if serenity will bother to come or not.

Serenity pulled out her wand, as she spotted a bit of blonde hair in front of her. "Waiting for some one Lords? Another boy toy stand you up?"

I turn to her and pull my wand up, pointing it straight at her. 'Blaze. You had the stones to turn up I see.' I say, my expression cold and menacing. 'Don't you dare talk to me like or I will make you regret it.' I walk towards her. 'That guy you were dancing with earlier. He's my boyfriend. You should try and get one sometime.' I say, sneering.

I put on a mask and stand my ground. "I have trust me. But I can keep my boyfriends eyes on me. If his are on you, why was he so willing to dance? Besides, are we here to talk, or duel?"
