Dance.

First topic message reminder :

The great hall doors open. Inside, the hall glows a faint red, the hundreds of candles giving off a deep red flame.
Soft music is playing inviting students inside. The tables are gone, instead on one side of the hall is a long table stretching as far as the eye can see, filled with cakes, cookies, drinks and other goodies in the shape of hearts. There are little tables doted around the hall, surrounding a big dance floor.

The music plays as the 1st students begin to enter.

She smiled at Sapreh "You look great, and your eyes are pretty cool!"

He smiled at her ''And you look absolutely beautiful. I chose the golden felcks to show I am a hufflepuff, one might mistake me for a ravenclaw, with all this purple on. Might take it as blue.'' He held out his hand and said ''Might I have a dance, miss Lawrence?''

She smiled at him, blushing slightly. "Of course you may" She smiled at Dylan then led Sapreh onto the dance floor.

He smiled and started dancing with Amy. He remembered Dylan from earlier and asked ''So, what's your relationship with Dylan? How did you two meet?''

She smiled as they danced. "I met him properly in the library earlier but he's been in my classes for a while. I was helping him pick up his books, his bag fell apart. He seems like a nice guy."

Apollonius walked into the great hall unaccompanied by Aimee, who was busy with work and hoped to arrive later. Is it too early for punch? He asked himself. He decided he'd settle on pumpkin juice for the moment.

He smiled again and twirled her around while saying ''So, how was your muggle school? Mine was good I suppose, even though we had a few accidents with my metamorp skills.... Emotions getting out of control and my hair changing colour. Always kept my hood on after that! Well, I take it off for these things... Dancing with you and special moments like this.'' He smiled and looked into her eyes.

I walked in a little nervously. I had no escort to accompany me, but I couldn't resist being a part of the first Hogwarts ball which I was allowed to attend. Perhaps if there were other people there without escorts it would be acceptable for her to remain. I might even get a dance!

I sat down in a dark corner with a glass of something I'd not tasted before. This might not be too bad, as long as nobody sees me hidden away in one corner like a Lilly no dates. Hehe, that was clever, I tought with a smile.

Elad strolled in confidentally and maybe a little oafishly. He scanned the people in the room looking for a sign of Brinna. 'Brinna, my Swan, where are you?' He called.

Elad saw Apollonius sitting on his bill. Obviously Aimee hadn't arrived yet. He picked up a tankard of some lurid, pink stuff and headed over and sat next to him.

'No sign yet, then? Same here'

"It was.. an experience" She decided carefully on her words, she hadn't exactly enjoyed living in the muggle world. "My mum sent me to get me out of the house, away from my brothers" She rolled her eyes. "It wasn't awful but I got quite impatient with some of the kids who just messed around, if I was going to be there I wanted to at least learn something"

Special moments? Well at least she wasn't stepping on his feet. I wonder how many girls he's taken to these things before?

"I can imagine it was hard hiding things in a muggle school, why did your parents send you?"

'Oh... hello Elad...' Responded Apollonius warily. 'No, she must still be busy. The dedication she puts into her work should have her coming out top trumps in her NEWTs. What about Brinna?'

Suddenly he realised that the dark shape in the corner was a person. It was Lavinia! 'Lavinia! You must come and join us, please' Called Apollonius. Though his tone was only gentlemanly, there was a hint of double meaning in the 'please'.

'No, no sign of Brinna yet.' Elad replied. He got up as he saw Lavinia walking over to them 'Lavinia, would you give me the pleasure of a dance?'

Assuming she would consent, he didn't wait for her answer and, sweeping her up in his arms, took her out onto the dance floor and danced a dance of vigour.

I was swept up by Elad... he was very manly in the way he took my hand and led me to the floor.

'It's my pleasure to dance with you, Elad' I said, secretly thinking I couldn't really maintain this energy all night and that I was glad to be a stand-in until Brinna arrived. Brinna! Arrive! I thought and giggled to myself.

Elad thought to himself 'I hope that Hufflepuff I found for Lavinia arrives. She deserves a date for the Ball'

He whispered to Lavinia 'I am sorry' and then, in response to a questioning look 'for any jealously Apollo sends your way. He is quite taken with me'.

He laughed as they danced together.

I let out a laugh of pure cheer; Elad's way was growing on me.

He smiled and thought 'This is going well, my voice hasn't pitched up horribly as it usually does when I'm nervous, and no toe stepping!' He then said ''They thought it was best for me to learn something about my magical abilities and to be around people without having to hide my metamorph abilites. They were sad I had to wear a hood all the time, but now It's like a part of me.''

"I guess that makes sense" She smiled at him. "You look great without your hood!" She blushed slightly.

It was true, he didn't need the hood, It was the first time I'd seen him properly without it. It sucked that he felt he had to hide his abilities, mind you I couldn't talk. I hid my secret from everyone.

'Everybody else is talking as they dance.' I said. 'Do you suppose we must seem terribly serious, that we do not speak and dance?'

I looked into Elad's eyes. For a moment, I was captivated. I snapped myself out of it in waiting for his answer.

'I will not pretend. I would like to know more about you. I feel we have only just scratched the surface. I wonder if you ever showed signs of magic when you were younger, you know, before you got the letter?' Elad said questioningly.

''Thank you! And I can imagine you wondering, If I have the ability to look like whatever I wanted, why not look like a god? Well, I've experimented with my looks many times, but I always took a picture of myself before I did it. I don't want to lose myself in the process. Now though, it seems I've gained this ability to see myself inside my mind, so when I change something about myself, I can always change back.'' He smiled and pulled her a bit closer. He thought 'Merlins beard, she is really good at dancing!'

'Well, when I was very young,' I began, 'or so I am told, because I have no memory of it, I was to be bathed by Nanny Watson only I opposed the idea strenuously. I darted hither and thither as fast as my little legs would carry me and, when I was cornered, I screamed in protest. At that moment, all the doors in the house began to swing wildly on their hinges and dark shapes were seen moving in the mirrors.'

'Everybody was awfully afraid, but it must have worked. We had a new nanny after that.' I said, laughing at the hilarity of it all.

She thought about what he'd said for a moment before replying. "I can see why it would be hard to find yourself again if you changed your appearance, I find it hard.." She trailed off, wishing she hadn't said that.

Why did I say that? Maybe if I ask questions he'll just ignore it?

"Do you feel like the same person when you change? I mean, you look different so do you feel the same?"

He thought about it for a second then answered ''I do feel the same yeah. Well, it's weird looking in a mirror and seeing someone else than yourself there. But what do you find hard? You can whisper it to me, I won't tell anyone, promise!'' He smiled sincerely and twirled her again.

'You must have had a privileged upbring' Said Elad, hoping not to sound nosey or judgemental. 'There were never really any signs that I was magical at all. Small things, sure, but nothing obvious.'

He asked her to share more of her life, if she cared to.
