Dance.

First topic message reminder :

The great hall doors open. Inside, the hall glows a faint red, the hundreds of candles giving off a deep red flame.
Soft music is playing inviting students inside. The tables are gone, instead on one side of the hall is a long table stretching as far as the eye can see, filled with cakes, cookies, drinks and other goodies in the shape of hearts. There are little tables doted around the hall, surrounding a big dance floor.

The music plays as the 1st students begin to enter.

'I didn't see that you had gone, Lavinia' Said Apollonius, 'I must have been in a daze.'

He looked over at Elad, who returned his glance with one of his own. But what was that in the glance? I wish I knew what I thought of all of this! I hope Elad isn't playing a cruel joke.

'There was nothing for it,' Elad thought to himself, 'there could be no more light-heartedness. That could all too easily be seen as flippancy'

'Come with me.' He said softly. 'I know a place where we can be alone.'

I realised I was alone in the dance hall. I tried to confirm myself in the knowledge that Apollonius and Elad were away with business of their own, but I couldn't help feel a little unloved.

'I truly am alone.' I whispered to unhearing stone as a solitary tear rolled down my cheek. 'I truly am alone.'

Sareph walked into the dancing hall, seing Lavinia all alone with the music playing in the background. He thought 'That's just sad, a girl without a partner!' So he walked up, and said, ''Miss Featherstonehaugh, may I have a dance?'' He extended his hand.

'Oh, hello Sareph. I couldn't possibly dance with you when I know that you are escorting Amy, though I thank you for the offer; it was very kind of you.' I said.

''Oh no worries, she has retired for the night. I am but offering a dance, besides, she was dancing with another guy before I got there. This can't hurt can it?'' He smiled at her and kept the hand extended.

'Then I would like to dance with you, Sareph, thank you.' I replied. I wondered what looking into his eyes would be like.

Sareph took her in his arms and led her out on the dancefloor, dancing to the slow music. He asked ''So, how do you like the people here at Hogwarts so far?'' He looked at her, curious.

'There are ever so many nice people. I feared I'd be terribly alone.' I felt a little silly saying that, so I asked a question 'Are all the members of your family Hufflepuffs? I hear that tends to run in families.'

''Actually, my mum was a Hufflepuff and my dad a Gryffindor. I suppose I have a bit of both in me! How about you, are you whole family Gryiffindors?'' He smiled at her and kept dancing.

'No, I'm muggle-born' I said, 'though I suppose I come from the muggle equivalent of a pureblood family, if you can imagine such a thing' I said. What a stupid thing to say.

''I suppose I can. So, how was it being the only magical being in a family of wizards? Any special outbursts to scare the muggleness out of them?'' He winked and smiled at her, then twirled her around.

''Ah well, nice a dance as this have been, I need to go. See you tomorrow, Lavinia!'' He hugged her then he turned and jogged up the stairs to his sleeping room and slept.

Elad and Apollonius walked back into the dance together, hand in hand, with tentative smiles on their faces.

Elad had asked Apollonius to put on a muggle song he remembered once they returned to the dance, so he pointed his wand at the phonograph and it began to play:



Hmm, not a bad song. Maybe muggles are alright. He thought. Or maybe it's just the mood I'm in.

'May I have this dance?' Elad asked of Apollonius, and the two of them danced to the music, to their song.

I knew this would be worth waiting for! They ran off pretty suddenly, and then they come back holding hands and dancing to the music? And they kissed! Just now! Under the starlight... as Elad said they would...

I swayed from side to side in my seat, showing my joy in their joy.

The two of them danced together slowly. Apollonius rested his head on Elad's shoulder, and as he breathed he breathed in his scent, and he was content.

'I wonder what Aimee and Brinna will think when they find out these two have stolen their dates -- each other' Lavinia laughed to herself.

Since this seems to be winding down, I thought I'd post this:

Elad held Apollonius firmly as they swayed to the music, brimming with all the emotion of the night.

'Great minds thinks alike, Elad' Said Apollo, quietly, to Elad as he slowly danced with him. 'You know, there certainly is something in your eyes.'

Apollonius sang along to the song:

I walk slowly into the great hall, smiling.
My hair is pined up, loose strands curling around my face. My dress is silver, long skirted. Strapless and tightfitting on top. I think I look pretty, I look around for Apollonius, a smile on my lips.

She sees Aimee and walks over to her with a trace of a smile on her face "hey!"

'I'm glad you could make it.' Said Apollonius to Aimee. 'I hope you get full marks in your Muggle Studies essay'
